Jimbo Wood, MS, PT

Owner and Physical Therapist

Jimbo Wood is a native of Anniston, Alabama. As a student at the University of Georgia, Jimbo worked with the football and men’s basketball teams through the University’s Sports Medicine Department before graduating with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science.

Returning to Alabama, Jimbo earned his Master's degree in Exercise Physiology and physical therapy from University of Alabama at Birmingham's School of Physical Therapy. The next four years found Jimbo in private practice before opening Horizon Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Inc. in the spring of 2005.

In 2010 and 2011, Horizon Physical Therapy was named one of the top 50 businesses world-wide owned and operated by a UGA graduate. His clinical specialties include sacroiliac joint dysfunctions and overuse injuries in runners, cyclists, and tri-athletes.

Jimbo is married to Beth, and they have two children, Davis and Porter. Jimbo and his family are now residing in Victor, Idaho, where they can take advantage of all that the Teton Mountains have to offer, while continuing to oversee operations at Horizon. Jimbo is a member of the Church in the Tetons, and he is an avid runner, mountain biker, fly fisherman, and skier.

      Mackenzie Howe

      Front Office Manager

      Mackenzie Howe grew up in Athens, Georgia. She attended Kennesaw State University on an indoor/outdoor track and cross-country scholarship, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Health Sciences.

      Upon graduation, Mackenzie earned a Master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport. Mackenzie ran competitively and had the opportunity to compete in the Olympic trials for the marathon.

      She joined the HPT team in March 2016 as the front office manager.

      Mackenzie currently resides in Athens. She attends Athens Church and in her free time enjoys being outdoors, running, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family.

          Sally Gardner-Wilson

          Front Office Assistant

          Born and raised in England, Sally Gardner-Wilson moved to the United States after completing her undergraduate degree in violin performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

          After graduating from the University of Illinois with a Master's degree in violin performance, Sally moved to Atlanta where she continues to enjoy a thriving music career.

          She has lived in Athens since 1999 and is an active freelance violinist and teacher in the Atlanta-Athens area as well as the Associate Concertmaster of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. Sally joined the Horizon team in March 2017. She has four children and loves to travel and spend time with friends and family.

              Dan McGowan

              Physical Therapist

              Dan McGowan was raised in Canton, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia, where he studied Exercise and Sport Science.

              After completing his degree, Dan went to Augusta University and earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Dan is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). His clinical interests include a wide variety of orthopedic conditions and helping people reach their highest potentials.

              Recreationally, Dan enjoys playing all sports, specifically basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, and tennis. Dan devotes his free time to traveling, spending time with friends and family, and learning to cook.

                Kellie Moore, PT, DPT

                Physical Therapist

                Kellie Moore is originally from Eastman, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science.

                She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of North Georgia in 2014. Kellie enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions and is certified in dry needling and vestibular rehabilitation.

                Kellie currently resides in Athens and is married to Daniel, a native of Thomson, Georgia. Kellie and Daniel are members of Watkinsville First Baptist Church. She enjoys reading, cooking, and running with her dog.

                  Hooman Nourparvar, PT, DPT

                  Physical Therapist

                  Hooman Nourparvar attended the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He continued his education at Augusta University, earning his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

                  Hooman works as Horizon’s Director of Rehabilitation, where he strives to incorporate evidence-based interventions into the clinic on daily basis. He has a clinical emphasis in sports medicine and injury prevention for patients of all ages. He is certified in dry needling and spinal manipulation technique.

                  His personal interests include lifting weights, running, mountain biking, golf, and cooking.

                    Carrie Hilley, PTA

                    Physical Therapist Assistant

                    Carrie Hilley is originally from Statham, Georgia. She attended Athens Technical College, completing her Associate's degree in Applied Science. Following graduation from Athens Tech’s PTA program, Carrie worked in acute care at a local hospital and joined the Horizon Physical Therapy team in 2010.

                    In addition to being a PTA, Carrie serves as Horizon PT’s Director of Community Outreach. Her clinical specialties include a Level II certification in Functional Movement Screenings (FMS) and Corrective Exercise Prescriptions, Slow Motion Video Analysis of running form, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage (IASTM) - including functional cupping, Graston soft tissue mobilization and trigger point release.

                    Carrie is a part of the One Hope Church community and in her spare time enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, running, and mountain biking.

                        Beth Wood

                        Billing Services Director

                        Beth is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in English.

                        After attending the University of Montevallo, where she earned her M.Ed. in secondary language arts education, Beth taught middle school English for ten years.

                        Beth is married to Jimbo and has two beautiful children, Davis and Porter. Beth enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.
