Jimbo Wood, MS, PT
Jimbo Wood, MS, PT, is a native of Anniston, Alabama and an Athens resident. He attended the University of Georgia from 1993-1997, where he majored in Exercise and Sports Science and worked with the University’s Sports Medicine Department with the football and men’s basketball teams. Jimbo then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, majoring in exercise physiology and physical therapy. After graduating from UAB’s School of Physical Therapy, Jimbo returned to Athens, where he worked in private practice for four years. Jimbo opened Horizon Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Inc. in the spring of 2005. In 2010 and 2011, Horizon Physical Therapy was named one of the top 50 businesses world-wide owned and operated by a UGA graduate.
Jimbo is married to Beth, a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a UGA graduate, and has 2 children, Davis and Porter. Jimbo is a member of Athens First United Methodist Church, and he is an avid runner, mountain biker, and rock climber. His clinical specialties include sacroiliac joint dysfunctions and overuse injuries in runners, cyclists, and tri-athletes. Jimbo started HPTR Seminars in 2010 and tours nationally speaking to fellow practitioners about implementing slow-motion video analysis into the evaluation and treatment of their running patients.
Bret Joiner, PT, DPT
Bret Joiner, PT, DPT, graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science. Following his tenure at UGA, he attended the Medical College of Georgia where he received a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. His primary interests are in sports medicine rehabilitation with an emphasis in sports specific training.
Bret is a resident of Athens, where he enjoys many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, running, and mountain biking. He also enjoys playing acoustic guitar, attending church, and cheering on the Georgia football team.
Carrie Hilley, PTA
Carrie Hilley, PTA, graduated from Athens Technical College in 2008 with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science. During her tenure at ATC, she performed clinical rotations including Neurological Rehabilitation, Acute Rehabilitation, as well as Orthopedic Rehabilitation with a sports-specific focus. Following graduation from Athens Tech’s PTA program, Carrie worked in acute care for two years at a local hospital and joined the Horizon Physical Therapy team in 2010.
Carrie resides in Statham, where she enjoys cooking, running, and riding horses with her family. She attends Watkinsville First Baptist and loves cheering on the Bulldogs.
Anna Oliver, Front Office Coordinator
Anna Oliver grew up in Statham, Georgia. She attended LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, graduating with a degree in finance. She now resides in Athens and joined the Horizon Physical Therapy team as the Front Office Coordinator in 2011.
Anna is married to Chris and attends Watkinsville First Baptist Church. She enjoys spending time with her family, photography, and music.
